Please finish your first banner ad for next week! Make sure it works!
And consider starting your second banner ad, which is the same concept with a new layout.
Here are the Yakult and Facebook classmate files from class tonight, with their solutions:

Module 9 Assignment
Today we Covered Chapter 16, page 543.
For next week, animate the linear story of your banner ad storyboard.
Start with whichever size from the UAP that you want (but do not use the smallest Rectangle, you already finished that one tonight!!)
I challenge you to try and code and finish it, since this is the hardest part of the final project!
Here are some past student .FLA examples for you to download and study:

Midterm to Final homework scope
Great job on the midterm storyboards everyone.
You have until class on Friday to re-do one storyboard each and make them vector. Meaning, one storyboard for the banner ad and one storyboard for the commercial (two total).
On Friday, your storyboards will be graded as your midterm grade, in combination with weekly assignments and participation.
This class grade breaks down into:
30% of your grade is based on weekly assignments (2% per class)
20% is the 2-storyboard midterm project
25% is the banner campaign final project
25% is the 30-second commercial midterm project + 15-second edit
From here on:
M8: New commercial storyboard revisions due
M9: New banner ad storyboard revision due
M10: First ten seconds of commercial due
M11: First banner ad due
M12: First twenty seconds of commercial due (minimum)
M13: Second banner ad due
M14: Full 30 second commercial due
M15: 15-second cut of commercial due, third banner ad / full banner UAP campaign due

Module 7 Assignment
Today we begin ActionScripting and learning about proper banner ad structure!
The Module 7 class demo will be taking your Module 3 banner ad assignment and turning it into a working banner ad with proper Scene 1 banner ad structure!
Wide Skyscraper = 160x600px
Medium Rectangle = 300x250px
Leaderboard = 728x90px
Rectangle = 180x150px
Your assignment for Friday and next Tuesday is to:
1. Redo your storyboards, based on instructor and peer feedback. If your storyboards are vector, then re-arrange and edit them as needed. If they were hand-drawn, create a vector storyboard for your best one (with new improvements.) This is because you are going to need everything drawn and ready to go in Module 9--- the Module 9 homework is finishing your first banner ad !!!
2. If your banner ad storyboard did not need many edits, consider beginning the animation process, -- with the proper Scene 1 Masking learned in the demo today-- to make your workload lighter in Module 9.

Module 5 Assignment
For today, please post your Vector Pack assignment and also your 5-second Flash banner ad animation into Micha's Titan folder.
Your assignment for next Tuesday is the Midterm Project!
1. Part one of the midterm is either one 6 - 10 cel vector (.FLA or .AI) 30-second commercial storyboard or two marker/pencil full-color 30-second storyboards done by hand. If you choose to do them by hand, these two ideas must be VERY different and will be voted upon by the class during Module 7.
ALL STORYBOARDS MUST HAVE CAPTIONS under every cel that detail audio, sound effects (sfx) and other explanation.
2. Part two of the midterm is one 3 - 10 cel vector (.FLA or .AI) banner ad storyboard of an idea that is (1.) under 15 seconds in length and (2.) contains one 'clickable' idea or two marker/pencil full-color 30-second storyboards done by hand. If you choose to do them by hand, these two ideas must be VERY different and will be voted upon by the class during Module 7. Again, ALL STORYBOARDS MUST HAVE CAPTIONS under every cel that detail audio, sound effects (sfx) and other explanation.

Story writing tips
WHEN CONCEPTING YOUR 5-SECOND STORIES, TRY FIRST DRAWING A TWO-CEL STORYBOARD. THAT’S RIGHT, JUST TWO!! SEE IF YOU CAN’T TELL YOUR STORY IN A SIMPLE WAY, AS IF IT WAS A NEWSPAPER CARTOON. THEN YOU WILL REALIZE WHAT THE MOST IMPORTANT ANIMATION PARTS ARE.
Three really great story-writing tricks, for commercials, print ads, banner ads and MORE are the:
Three really great story-writing tricks, for commercials, print ads, banner ads and MORE are the:
- THE PROBLEM/SOLUTION:
- POSE THE PROBLEM YOUR PRODUCT ADDRESSES, THEN FINISH WITH WHY YOUR PRODUCT IS THE BEST SOLUTION
- THE QUESTION/ANSWER:
- ASK YOUR AUDIENCE A QUESTION AND THEN TELL THEM WHY YOUR PRODUCT IS THE ANSWER.
- THE FACT/TWIST:
- STATE A FACT ABOUT THE ISSUE YOUR PRODUCT ADDRESSES, AND THEN TWIST THAT FACT AROUND USING FACTS ABOUT YOUR PRODUCT.
Module 03 Assignment
For next Tuesday, please animate a 5-second (120 frame) story about your brand, using vectors from your Module 01 vector pack.
- Here are some example files to download and study: http://www.mediafire.com/download/l75bvasapcoo9yo/ADV630_M03_examples.zip
- The ad must be exactly five seconds, however, if you'd prefer to animate it to exactly 15 seconds so that it may be a traditional commercial animation (submittable to contests such as the Spring Show) you are allowed to do 15 seconds EXACTLY.
- This animation MUST include Stop Motion, a Motion Tween or Classic Tween, a stop(); at frame 120, and one animation-within-animation, otherwise known as "nested animation"
- You are free to draw more than just the M01 vectors, however, keep any new pieces in your color palette! This assignment MUST be done in vector, no photographs allowed except for maybe a product shot.
- The story must have a surprise ending with a before-and-after plot. Meaning, the story must be able to be described using the phrase "and then..." For example: "My animation is about a dog burying a bone." is NOT a story. But, "My animation is about a dog burying a bone, and then the bone comes to life and runs away." IS a story.
- The stage must be the template size of "Rectangle" which is 180x150 pixels:

Module 01 Assignment
Your FLASH homework due next TUESDAY:
- In FLASH you must draw a 5 - 6 asset vector pack for your chosen brand. (Try and use an illustration-friendly brand that you've worked with before... but you're free to choose one of your own. If you don't know where to begin, try one of the local Whole Foods brands in the post below).
- You must use only 5 brand colors. You will be working with these same 5 colors all semester.
- Turn in the .FLA file next Tuesday, Module 03.
- One vector image MUST be the brand logo, but you are allowed to turn in this vector as an .AI or .EPS file instead. It must be drawn in vector, no Photoshop, .JPG or other image pixel files allowed.
